大学英语作文2400字:AnUnforgettabledayitwasasunnybalmyafternoonattheendofaleisurelysummer.iwasdrivingonawindingcountryroadwithaladyfriend.littledidiknowthatiwastohaveaclosecallthatwouldhavealmostruinedtherestofmylife.earlierthatday,afriendcalledmetotellmethatourmutualfriendrosywasarrivingbackfromtaiwanafterthesummerholidays.sincetherewasnoairportintheimmediatevicinityoftheuniversity,shewouldneedaridetocomebackoncampus.beingmildlyinterestedinthatgirl,ijumpedatthechancetoplayhero.thetripwasnotparticularlongorarduous.iwastopickherupfromafriend’shomethatwasamere80milesfromcampus—apieceofcake,isaidtomyself.everythingwentwell.thecountryroadwasalmostdeserted.visibilitywasgoodandiwasnotdrivingveryfast.theconversationwaslivelybutnotdistracting.abouthalfanhourintothedrive,iroundedacornerandnoticedtwosmallchildren,agedaround10,waitingtocrosstheroadaftergettingofftheirschoolbus.mymindwasnotparticularlyfocusedonthembecauseithoughttheywouldnotcrosstheroadwhenatruckwascomingthroughontheirside.thetwokidslookedtotheirleft,watchingthetruckintensely.assoonasthetruckpassed,andwithoutathought,theystartedtodashacrosstheroad.iwaspetrified,tosaytheleast.myheartalmostleapedoutofmythroat.timeseemedtohavecometoastandstill.itwaslikeanightmarecomingintoreality.ifeltiwasintheslowmotioncrashsceneofamovie.ididnotevenhavethetimetobrakeorsteerclear.byprovidencesmiledonmethatday.thetwokidsmissedmycarbylessthananinch.imaginewhatwouldhavehappenedifihadhitthem?theywouldhavebeenkilledinstantly.iwouldhavebeenchargedwithmanslaughterandthrownintojail.mycareerwouldbeoverbeforeitevengotstarted.thekindofinhumanetreatmentiwouldreceivefromfellowinmate,icouldonlyguessbuthatetoimagine.iwillneverbeawholepersonagainevenifiweretobereleasedearlyforgoodbehavior.mylifewouldbeover.evenifihadagoodlawyerthatcouldhavegottenmeoff,iwouldhavecarriedthatguiltinmymindfortherestofmylife.eventoday,thirty-siyearslater,thememoryofthatdayisstillfreshonmymind.ihavemyluckystartothankforhavingbothpartiesgottenoffunscathed.
