中—英双语者的词汇—概念记忆表征研究的中期报告IntroductionThepurposeofthisreportistoprovideamid-termupdateonourresearchprojectaimingtoinvestigatethevocabulary-conceptualmemoryrepresentationofChinese-Englishbilinguals.Inthisreport,wewillsummarizetheresearchprogress,includingmethods,results,andimplications.MethodParticipantsThestudyrecruited40Chinese-Englishbilinguals(20males,20females)aged20-30.Allparticipantswereright-handedandhadnormalorcorrected-to-normalvision.Theywerescreenedforanyneurologicalorpsychologicaldisorders,andnoneofthemreportedanyhistoryofbraininjuryorpsychiatricillness.MaterialsAsetofChineseandEnglishvocabularylistswith400wordseachwascreated,containingnouns,verbs,adjectives,andadverbsthatarecommonlyusedindailylife.Thelistswerematchedinwordfrequencyandconceptacrosslanguages.Inaddition,asetofpicturestimulicorrespondingtothevocabularyitemswasalsocreated.ProcedureParticipantswererandomlyassignedtooneoftwogroups.Group1wastestedontheirChinesevocabularyandGroup2wastestedontheirEnglishvocabulary.Inawithin-subjectdesign,participantscompletedtwosessionsoftasks(oneforeachlanguage)usingacomputer-basedparadigm.Eachsessionconsistedofthreetasks:1)apicturenamingtask,2)acategoryfluencytask,and3)alexicaldecisiontask.ResultsAnalysisofaccuracyandreactiontimedatashowedthatparticipantsperformedsignificantlybetteronthepicturenamingtaskthanonthecategoryfluencytaskandthelexicaldecisiontask.Thissuggeststhatthevisualrepresentationofwordsinrelationtotheirconceptsisstronglyaccessibleinbothlanguages.Furthermore,thebilingualadvantagewasobservedinbothlanguages,indicatedbyfasterreactiontimesandgreateraccuracyinthebilingualscomparedtomonolingualsinpreviousstudies.ImplicationsThemid-termfindingssuggestthatbilateralactivationofvocabulary-conceptualmemoryrepresentationsoccursinbilinguals,regardlessoflanguage.Thebilingualadvantagemaybeduetotheenhancedefficiencyofcorticalprocessingresultingfromtheexperienceofmanagingtwolanguages.Theseresultswillcontributetotheunderstandingoftheneuralmechanismsunder
