CSR外靶硅微条阵列探测器电子学系统研究中期报告AbstractInthisreport,themid-termprogressoftheelectronicsystemresearchforCSRoutertargetsiliconmicro-striparraydetectorispresented.ThemainfocusisontheTDC-basedreadoutelectronicssystem.Aprototypesystemhasbeendesignedandtested,andpreliminaryresultsshowthatitcanachieveatimeresolutionoflessthan20ps.IntroductionTheChinaSpallationNeutronSource(CSNS)isanewgenerationofneutronsourcefacilitythatwillprovideintenseneutronbeamsformaterialsresearchandotherapplications.Inordertoperformefficientandaccurateexperiments,preciseneutrondetectionsystemsareneeded.Amongthem,theoutertargetsiliconmicro-striparraydetectorisanimportantcomponentoftheneutrondetectionsystem,whichisusedtomeasuretheposition,energyandtimeofneutrons.Toachievehigherenergyresolutionandbettertimeresolution,aTDC-basedreadoutelectronicssystemisneeded.MethodInourTDC-basedreadoutelectronicssystem,thedetectorsignalsarefirstpre-amplified,shapedandthenfedintoaleading-edgediscriminator(LED)circuit.TheoutputsoftheLEDarethenfedintotheTDCtomeasurethetimedifferencebetweentheleadingedgesofthetwosignals.TheTDCweusedisbasedonatime-to-digitalconverter(TDC)chipwitharesolutionof20ps.TheTDCchipiscontrolledbyafield-programmablegatearray(FPGA),whichprovidesbothcontrolsignalsanddataacquisition.ResultsAprototypereadoutelectronicssystemhasbeendevelopedandtestedwithatestbenchoftwofirmware-programmabletimingmodules.Thetimeresolutionofthesystemhasbeenmeasuredtobelessthan20ps,whichmeetstherequirementfortheCSRoutertargetsiliconmicro-striparraydetector.ConclusionInconclusion,wehavedesignedandtestedaTDC-basedreadoutelectronicssystemfortheCSRoutertargetsiliconmicro-striparraydetector.Theprototypesystemhasachievedatimeresolutionoflessthan20ps,whichissuitableforthedetectorapplication.Furtheroptimizationsofthesystemwillbecarriedouttoimproveitsperformanceandreliabilityinthefuturework.
