Reportsshowthattheimitationrelicsindustryhaspervadedover10provincesinChina,with95%ormoreoftheproductsgettingclassifiedasamediumorlowqualitylevel,People'sDailyreported。Theindustrycoversjade,porcelain,bronzes,paintingsandmanyothercategories,accordingtotheSurveyofUndergroundArchaizingIndustry。"Nowadays,mostproductssoldattheantiquemarketaremainlymediumorlowqualityfakeones.Highqualityimitationgoodsareveryraretocomeby,letaloneauthenticrelics,"WuShu,aculturalscholarandtheauthoroftheChinaCulturalRelicsBlackBooksaidaftervisitingtheimitationmillsseveraltimes。"Thereisnocleardefinitiononwhetherornottheactsofimitationviolatelawsandwhetherornotarchaizingispunishable.However,itbeinglegaldoesnotimplyitdoesn'tcauseanyharm,"Wusaid,addingthatthehighimitationartifactsofYuan,MingandQingDynastyporcelainsproducedinthecityofJingdezhen,JiangxiProvince,holdthesamecompositionastheauthenticones.Theycouldnotbedistinguishedfromtheiroriginalcounterparts,noteventhroughhigh-techmeasures。Hesuggestedthatmoregrassrootsexpertsshouldbeabsorbedintotheaccreditationbodies,withavarietyofscientificinstrumentsintroducedtotheidentificationprocess.Thiswaytheauthoritiescouldestablishprivateantiquetransactionaccreditationbodiesatseverallevels,allbearingtheaimtosignificantlyreducethecirculationoffakerelics。据《人民日报》报道，相关报告显示，我国文物仿制产业已遍及全国10余省份，95%以上的产品处于中低水平。《地下作旧产业调查》指出，仿制产业涉及玉器、瓷器、青铜器、书画等多个门类。《中国文物黑皮书》的作者、文化学者吴树多次走访仿制点后表示：“现在古玩城卖的基本上都是中低水平的仿品，高仿品绝少出现，更别说是真品。”吴树称：“仿制违不违法、作旧该不该罚，法律上没有明确界定，但不违法不等于没有害。”他还说，江西景德镇烧制的仿真元明清瓷器，连成分都跟真品一样，用高科技手段都无法辨明真假。吴树建议，国家应多选拔民间能人进入鉴定机构，将各种科学手段引入鉴定过程，分级建立服务民间的文物交易鉴定机构，以大幅减少假文物流通。
