基于三种英文报纸上的英语政治新闻的体裁分析的中期报告IntroductionThepurposeofthismidtermreportistoanalysethedifferentgenresofpoliticalnewsarticlesfoundinthreeEnglishnewspapers–TheGuardian,TheTimesandTheTelegraph.ThesenewspaperswerechosenastheyareprominentnewspapersintheUnitedKingdomandprovidearangeofpoliticalnewsarticles.Theanalysiswillfocusonidentifyingthetypicallanguage,structureandfeaturesofpoliticalnewsarticlespublishedineachnewspaper.MethodologyAtotalof15politicalnewsarticleswereselected,consistingoffivearticlesfromeachnewspaper.Thearticleswereobtainedfromthenewspapers’websites,coveringtheperiodfromJanuarytoApril2021.Thearticleswereanalysedusingagenreanalysisframework,whichinvolvedidentifyingthetypicallinguisticandstructuralcharacteristicsofpoliticalnewsarticles.ResultsTheanalysisidentifiedseveralcommonpatternsacrossthearticlesreviewed.Firstly,allofthearticleswerewritteninaformal,objectivestyle,withafocusonfactsandinformation.Theuseofquotesfrompoliticiansandexpertswasprevalentinallthreenewspapers,andthesequoteswereusedtosupportthearticles’claimsandprovideevidence.Thearticleswerealsostructuredsimilarly,withanintroductoryparagraphprovidingabriefsummaryofthearticle’scontent,followedbythemainbodyoftextthatprovidedfurtherdetailandanalysis.Finally,thearticlesconcludedwithasummaryoracalltoaction.However,therewerealsosomedifferencesinthetypesofpoliticalnewsarticlesfoundineachnewspaper.TheGuardianhadagreaterfocusoninternationalpoliticalnewsandanalysis,whileTheTimesandTheTelegraphhadagreateremphasisondomesticpolitics,withaparticularfocusonissuessuchasBrexitandthepandemicresponse.TheTelegraphalsowasmorelikelytoprovidepoliticalopinionandanalysispieces,whileTheTimeswasmorefocusedonreportingfactsandinformation.ConclusionInconclusion,thismidtermreporthasidentifiedsomecommonpatternsinthelanguage,structureandfeaturesofpoliticalnewsarticles.Theformal,objectivestyle;useofquotes;andsimilarstructurewereallprevalentinthearticlesanalysed.However,therewerealsodifferencesinthetypesofpoliticalnewsarticle
