初中生英语自主阅读现状、问题及对策研究——以中山市X中学为例的开题报告AbstractInrecentyears,EnglishautonomousreadinghasbecomeasignificantaspectofEnglishteachinginmiddleschools.However,manyproblemsexistinthecurrentsituationofEnglishautonomousreadingamongmiddleschoolstudents,whichneedtobeaddressedtoimprovestudents’Englishreadingproficiency.ThisresearchaimstoinvestigatethecurrentsituationofEnglishautonomousreadingamongmiddleschoolstudentsinXschoolinZhongshancity,analyzethechallengesfacedbystudentsintheprocessofEnglishautonomousreading,andproposefeasiblestrategiestoovercomethesechallenges.Thispaperwillcombinealiteraturereviewwithempiricalresearchsuchasaquestionnairesurvey,observation,andinterviewstoprovideinsightfulsuggestionsforimprovingEnglishautonomousreadingamongmiddleschoolstudents.IntroductionWiththerapiddevelopmentofglobalizationandinternationalexchanges,Englishhasbecomethemostwidelyusedlanguageintheworld.Asaresult,EnglisheducationinChineseschoolsisbecomingincreasinglyemphasized,especiallyinmiddleschools.ThemasteryofEnglishisnotonlyevaluatedbystudents’performanceindailyEnglishclassesbutalsodeterminedbytheirabilitytousethelanguagenaturallyandeffectivelyinreal-lifesituations,whichrequirescomprehensivelanguageskills,includingreading,writing,listening,andspeaking.Amongthefourlanguageskills,readingisconsideredasthemostfundamentalandimportantonesinceitisnotonlythefoundationofotherlanguageskillsbutalsoacriticaltoolforacquiringknowledgeandinformation.InChina,pre-designedtextbooksandclassroominstructionhavetraditionallybeentheprimarysourcesofstudents’Englishreadingpractices,resultinginlowmotivationandinadequatereadingskills.Inrecentyears,Englishautonomousreadinghasbeenwidelyrecognizedasaneffectiveapproachtopromotestudents’Englishreadingproficiency.Studentscanchoosereadingmaterialsbasedonpersonalinterestsandpreferences,whichnotonlyincreasesmotivationbutalsoenhancestheirreadingcomprehensionskills.Asaresult,manymiddleschoolsinChinahaveintegratedEnglishautonomousreadingintotheEnglishcurriculum.However,pro
