每天前20名注册可获免费名师辅导学英语记词汇练口语真人一对一教学抢注网址:www.englishvip.com/wenkxd.htm洛基国际英语竭诚为您服务IndependenceDayisthenationalholidayoftheUnitedStatesofAmericacommemoratingthesigningoftheDeclarationofIndependencebytheContinentalCongressonJuly4,1776,inPhiladelphia,Pennsylvania.AtthetimeofthesigningtheUSconsistedof13coloniesundertheruleofEngland'sKingGeorgeIII.TherewasgrowingunrestinthecoloniesconcerningthetaxesthathadtobepaidtoEngland.Thiswascommonlyreferredtoas"TaxationwithoutRepresentation"asthecolonistsdidnothaveanyrepresentationintheEnglishParliamentandhadnosayinwhatwenton.Astheunrestgrewinthecolonies,KingGeorgesentextratroopstohelpcontrolanyrebellion.In1774the13coloniessentdelegatestoPhiladelphiaPennsylvaniatoformtheFirstContinentalCongress.ThedelegateswereunhappywithEngland,butwerenotyetreadytodeclarewar.InApril1775astheKing'stroopsadvancedonConcordMassachusettsPaulReverewouldsoundthealarmthat"TheBritisharecoming,theBritisharecoming"asherodehishorsethroughthelatenightstreets.ThebattleofConcordandits"shotheardroundtheworld"wouldmarktheunofficialbeginningofthecolonieswarforIndependence.ThefollowingMaythecoloniesagainsentdelegatestotheSecondContinentalCongress.ForalmostayearthecongresstriedtoworkoutitsdifferenceswithEngland,againwithoutformallydeclaringwar.ByJune1776theireffortshadbecomehopelessandacommitteewasformedtocomposeaformaldeclarationofindependence.HeadedbyThomasJefferson,thecommitteeincludedJohnAdams,BenjaminFranklin,PhilipLivingstonandRogerSherman.ThomasJeffersonwaschosentowritethefirstdraftwhichwaspresentedtothecongressonJune28.AftervariouschangesavotewastakenlateintheafternoonofJuly4th.Ofthe13colonies,9votedinfavoroftheDeclaration,2-PennsylvaniaandSouthCarolinavotedNo,DelawareundecidedandNewYorkabstained.AndalthoughthesigningoftheDeclarationwasnotcompleteduntilAugust,the4thofJulyhasbeenacceptedastheofficialanniversaryofUnitedStatesindependence.ThefirstIndependenceDaycelebrationtookplacethefollowingyear-July41777.Bytheearly1800sthetraditionsofpara
