2008年新闻发言人讲稿(英文)中涉美问题语用策略分析的开题报告Title:PragmaticAnalysisofLanguageUseStrategiesin2008NewsSpokesperson’sSpeechonSino-USRelationsIntroductionIn2008,theYearoftheBeijingOlympics,China-U.S.relationsreceivedextensiveinternationalattention.AstheofficialrepresentativesoftheChinesegovernment,newsspokespeopleplayedacrucialroleindeliveringmessagesandmanagingexpectationsduringthisperiod.However,thelanguageusedbynewsspokespeopleneedstobeinterpretedwithinawidercontext,takingintoaccountthesocialandpoliticalenvironmentinwhichitwasproduced.ThisstudyaimstoconductapragmaticanalysisofthelanguageusestrategiesadoptedbyChinesenewsspokespeopleinrelationtotheU.S.in2008.ResearchQuestionsThisstudyseekstoanswerthefollowingresearchquestions:1.WhatarethemainlanguageusestrategiesadoptedbyChinesenewsspokespeopleinrelationtotheU.S.in2008?2.Howdotheidentifiedlanguageusestrategiescontributetoachievingthespeakers’communicativegoalsinthiscontext?3.Whataretheimplicationsofthesestrategiesforcross-culturalcommunicationbetweenChinaandtheU.S.?LiteratureReviewPragmaticsisasubfieldoflinguisticsthatstudieshowlanguageisusedincontexttoachievespecificcommunicationgoals.Asopposedtosemantics,whichstudiesthemeaningofwordsandtheirrelationshipsinasentence,pragmaticsfocusesonhowcontextaffectstheinterpretationofmeaning.Focusingonlanguageusestrategiesusedbynewsspokespeople,thisstudydrawsontheconstructsofpolitenesstheory,speechacttheory,andthecooperativeprinciple.MethodologyThisstudywilluseaqualitativemethodofdatacollection,whichinvolvescollectingdatafromofficialnewsreleases,transcriptsofnewsconferences,andothermediainterviewswithChinesenewsspokespeopleduringtheperiodof2008.Thedatawillbeanalyzedusingcontentanalysisanddiscourseanalysistoidentifythemainlanguageusestrategiesemployedbythespeakers.ExpectedResultsThisstudyisexpectedtofindthatChinesenewsspokespeopleadoptedarangeoflanguageusestrategieswhenspeakingabouttheUSin2008,includingindirectness,innuendo,andeuphemism.Thesestrategiesenabledthespeakerstoconveyneg
