CreatingJobsbyBoostingTourismPresidentBarackObamatapestheweeklyaddress,WhiteHouse,1/21/12Hello,everybody.OnThursday,IwentdowntoFloridatovisitDisneyworld.ToSashaandMalia’sgreatdisappointment,IwasnottheretohangoutwithMickeyorrideSpaceMountain.Instead,Iwastheretotalkaboutstepswearetakingtoboosttourismandcreatejobs.Tourismisthenumberoneserviceweexport.Everyyear,tensofmillionsoftouristscomefromallovertheworldtovisitAmerica.Theystayinourhotels,eatatourrestaurants,andseeallthesightsAmericahastooffer.That’sgoodforlocalbusinesses.That’sgoodforlocaleconomies.AndthemorefolkswhovisitAmerica,themoreAmericanswegetbacktowork.It’sthatsimple.Wecan’twaittoseizethisopportunity.AsI’vesaidbefore,IwillcontinuetoworkwithCongress,states,andleadersintheprivatesectortofindwaystomovethiscountryforward.Butwheretheycan’tactorwon’tact,Iwill.BecausewewanttheworldtoknowthatAmericaisopenforbusiness.Andthat’swhyIannouncedstepswe’retakingtopromoteAmericaandmakeiteasierfortouriststocomeandvisit.Frequenttravelerswhopassanextensivebackgroundcheckwillbeabletoscantheirpassportsandfingerprintsandskiplonglinesatimmigrationatmoreairports.We’regoingtoexpandthenumberofcountrieswherevisitorscangetpre-clearedbyHomelandSecuritysotheydon’tneedatouristvisa.Andwe’regoingtospeedupvisaprocessingforcountrieswithgrowingmiddleclassesthatcanaffordtovisitAmerica-countrieslikeChinaandBrazil.Wewantmorevisitorscominghere.Wewantthemspendingmoneyhere.It’sgoodforoureconomy,anditwillhelpprovidetheboostmorebusinessesneedtogrowandhire.Andwecan’twaittomakeithappen.Toooftenoverthelastfewmonths,we’veseenCongressdragitsfeetandrefusetotakestepsweknowwillhelpstrengthenoureconomy.That’swhythisisthelatestinaseriesofactionsI’vetakenonmyowntohelpoureconomykeepgrowing,creatingjobs,andrestoringsecurityformiddle-classfamilies.InSeptember,wedecidedtostopwaitingforCongresstofixNoChildLeftBehindandgivestatestheflexibilitytheyneedtohelpourkidsmeethigherstandards.WemadesurethatsmallbusinessesthathavecontractswiththeFederalGovernmentca
