Achangetobelievein?ThispassagethroughreportedthatMyanmar’snewgovernmentproteststotheconstructionofanenormous$3.6billionChinese-backeddamontheRiverIrrawaddyinthenorthofthecountryshowingMyanmaristryingtochangeitsreform.AlthoughChinaisMyanmar’scloseststrategically,nearestneighborandbiggestinvestor,thedamwasagainstthewillofthepeoplesothattherehadbeenstrongoppositiontothedamfromenvironmentalistsandlocalKachinpeople(thousandsofwhomwerebeingdisplacedtomakewayforit).Thereisnodoubtthatmoredemocraticsystemofgovernmentisgoodforthepeople,fortheyneedaresponsiblegovernmenttoprotecttheirwealthandotheraspects.ThemostevidenceofthatistheMyanmar’sgovernmenthasdecidedtorelaxthepresscensorshipandevenwouldtoreleasepoliticalprisoners.Tosomeextent,it’sgoodtohearthatMyanmar'spoliticalsystemisstartingtoopenuptodemocraticapproaches.WhilesuspendingconstructionforthedamontheIrrawaddyRivermayhurtMyanmar'srelationshipwithChina,itcouldhelpestablisharelationshipwithEUandotherWesterncountries.ItwillbeinterestingtoseeifthenewleaderTheinSeinlivesuptothepromisesofbecomingmoredemocratic.Somepeoplesaythatforthefirsttimeindecades,Myanmarmayatlastbeatarealpointoftransformation.Butafterdecadesofheavy-handedmilitaryrepression,manycitizensarestillcautiousaboutthegovernment’strueintentions.Accordingtoothercountries’democraticsystemdevelopment,Myanmar,thepoorestcountryneedstopayamountofattentiontoitspoliticalsituationandtackletherelationshipwithotherforeigncountries.Fromreasonablepoints,theMyanmar’sprotestactionofchina’sconstructionofdamisquiteright,thoughitisdangerousofthemtodoit.Ineverynation,thegovernmentneedstohaveconsciousnesstoreformunfitsystemandtoestablishmoredemocraticsystem.FromSuntoMaotonowAccordingtoChina’s1911revolution,thisnewsrevealsthatfromthattimetonowauthoritariangovernmentshavebeengivinguncomfortablecomparisonstothepeople,formanyyearsthegovernmenthasstronglyopposedpublicopinionsin1911revolution.TherulingCommunistPartyisbusilystiflingdebateabouttherevolutionaries’dreamofdemocracy,whichhas
