AGREEMENTbetweenTHEACADEMIASINICAandCOLUMBIAUNIVERSITYTHEUSAGEOFTHE“CHINESECIVILIZATIONINTIMEANDSPACE”ThisAGREEMENTismadeeffectiveasofMarch27,2003betweenColumbiaUniversityandAcademiaSinica,Taipei,Taiwan.Whereas:TheAcademiaSinicahascreatedacomprehensiveGeographicalInformationSystem(GIS),knownasthe“ChineseCivilizationinTimeandSpace”(CCTS),andtheTsaiYuan-peiResearchCenterforHumanitiesandSocialSciences,AcademiaSinica,hasbeenauthorizedtomanagetheusageoftheCCTS.ColumbiaUniversitywantstomakeuseoftheCCTSforresearchandteachingpurposes.Thepartiesherebyagree:TheAcademiaSinicagrantsColumbiaUniversitytherighttoaccesstheCCTS.Inreturn,ColumbiaUniversitygrantstheAcademiaSinicatherighttoaccessselectedelectroniccollectionsanddatabaseswhichColumbiaUniversityhascreatedandofwhich,ithasproprietaryrights.(ColumbiaUniversity)willprovidethelistofthedatasetswhichtheAcademiaSinicacanaccess,andthelistwillbeattachedtothisAGREEMENTasanappendix.)TheCCTSislimitedtothesystemwhichtheAcademiaSinicahasmadeavailabletoitsstaffandcollocatedatColumbiaUniversity.TheCCTSmaybeaccessedonlybyfaculty,students,staffandotherauthorizedusersofColumbiaUniversityandonlyforacademicpurposes.TheCCTSshouldnotbeusedforanycommercialpurposes.TheCCTSwillbeinstalledassystemcollocationatColumbiaUniversitybytheAcademiaSinica.TheformershouldprovidethelattercompleteinformationregardingIPaddresses,aswellasanarchitecturemapoftherouter(includingrouteraddress),andbepreparedtoproperlymaintainandmanagetheCCTSsystem.IfusersachieveanynewacademicresultsbasedontheCCTS,apropercitationshouldbemade,asfollows:“ChineseCivilizationinTimeandSpace,Version1.0,AcademiaSinica,Taipei,Taiwan,2002.”Inaddition,afterresultshavebeenmadepublicforoneyear,withpermissionfromoriginalcreator(s),theAcademiaSinicawillbeallowedtointegratetheoriginaldataofsuchresultsintotheCCTSandmakethemavailabletothepublicwithproperacknowledgementofthesourceaswellasthecreatorofsuchresearchresults.AcademiaSinicaisobligatedtocitetheoriginalcreatorofanysuchda
