中国学生英语写作中时态分布的研究的中期报告IntroductionThisresearchaimstoinvestigatethedistributionoftensesusedbyChinesestudentsintheirEnglishwriting.Inparticular,weareinterestedinidentifyingpatternsintheuseofpresentsimple,presentcontinuous,pastsimple,andpastcontinuoustenses.ThestudyisintendedtoofferinsightsintothecommonmistakesandweaknessesofChinesestudentsinwritinginEnglishandprovidesuggestionsforimprovingtheirproficiencyinwriting.MethodThestudyisbasedonacorpusof150EnglishessayswrittenbyChinesestudentsfromthreedifferentuniversities.Theessayswerecollectedoveraperiodoftwoyearsandcoverawiderangeoftopicsfromdifferentdisciplines.Theessayswereanalyzedusingasoftwaretoolthatidentifiesandcategorizesthedifferenttypesoftensesusedinthewriting.ResultsThepreliminaryresultsshowthatthepresentsimpletenseisthemostcommonlyusedtense,accountingforapproximately45%ofallthetensesused.Thepresentcontinuoustenseisthesecondmostcommonlyusedtense,accountingforapproximately25%ofthetensesused.Thepastsimpletenseisthethirdmostcommonlyusedtense,accountingforapproximately20%ofthetensesused.Thepastcontinuoustenseistheleastcommonlyusedtense,accountingforapproximately10%ofthetensesused.DiscussionTheresultssuggestthatChinesestudentstendtousethepresentsimpletenseexcessivelyintheirwriting,indicatingalackofawarenessoftheimportanceofusingdifferenttensesfordifferentpurposes.Furthermore,theoveruseofthepresentsimpletensecanleadtoalackofclarityandprecisioninconveyingideasandmessages.Additionally,thelowfrequencyofpastcontinuoustenseusagesuggeststhatstudentsmayhavedifficultyexpressingactionsandeventsthatoccurredoveralongerperiodoftime.ConclusionThedistributionoftensesusedbyChinesestudentsintheirEnglishwritingrevealsareaswhereattentionandimprovementareneeded.Futureresearchcouldfocusonidentifyingthereasonsbehindthetendenciesobservedinthisstudyanddevelopingspecificstrategiestoaddresstheseweaknesses.Bydoingso,studentscanenhancetheirwritingproficiencyandsuccessfullycommunicatetheirideasandmessagesinEnglish.
