动物隐喻的英汉比较研究的中期报告AbstractAnimalmetaphorsarewidelyusedinboththeEnglishandChineselanguages.Thisstudyaimstocompareandanalyzetheusageandculturalconnotationsofanimalmetaphorsinbothlanguages.ThestudyisbasedonacorpusofanimalmetaphoricalexpressionsinEnglishandChineseliterature,newsarticles,andonlinesources.TheinitialresultssuggestthattheusageofanimalmetaphorsinEnglishandChineseissimilarintermsofthevarietyofanimalspeciesreferencedandtheirmetaphoricalmeanings.However,therearealsosignificantdifferencesbetweenthetwolanguagesintermsofculturalconnotationsandstereotypesassociatedwithcertainanimals.Forexample,inEnglish,dogsareoftenassociatedwithloyaltyandfidelity,whileinChineseculture,dogsareassociatedwithgoodluckandfortune.Similarly,inEnglish,thelionisoftenassociatedwithstrengthandcourage,whileinChineseculture,thedragonisasymbolofpowerandgoodfortune.Thestudyalsorevealsthatculturalconnotationsofanimalmetaphorscanchangeovertime,influencedbyfactorssuchassocialandpoliticalchanges,technologicaladvancements,andglobalization.Overall,thisstudycontributestoabetterunderstandingofthedifferencesandsimilaritiesintheusageandculturalconnotationsofanimalmetaphorsinEnglishandChinese.Furtherstudyisneededtoexploretheculturalandhistoricaloriginsofthesedifferencesandhowtheyreflectthelargersocioculturalcontextswithinwhichthelanguagesareused.
