東吳大學課程中英文簡介填表日期：2006年2月15日科目名稱：心靈哲學學分(上/下)：(2/2)選別：□必選英文名稱：PhilosophyofMind授課教師：彭孟堯上課時數(上/下)：(2/2)填表說明：.請提供約一百字之中文簡介及內容相當之英文簡介，俾利作對外介紹、編印課程綱要及英文成績單之用。(中文簡介)本門課將介紹當代關於心靈與認知的主要哲學研究。我們會先解說主要幾項存有論的立場，包括二元論、唯心論、行為主義、同一論、功能論、取消論、和工具論。這項解說將以歷史發展與哲學困難的提出與解決來進行，以便熟悉本領域重要的論題。心靈哲學的課題很多，其最有名的應該是所謂的「心物問題」。在當代英美哲學的研究裡，從這根本問題進一步衍生的，最主要的是「意向性」以及「主體性」兩項心靈的特徵。當代哲學的思考引進了計算理論作為理解心靈的學理基礎，建立了算機功能論的學說，提供了人工智能的學理解釋，更與心理學、語言學等學門的研究，共同建立了認知科學。本門課會對於這個發展進行解說，並介紹其中的重要概念與問題，包括心理表徵、心理語意、人工智能的哲學問題、感質、意識與主體性。我們並將思考在「心靈」這個主題，哲學研究與科學研究之間的整合。(英文簡介)Thiscourseisanintroductiontocontemporaryphilosophicalstudiesofmindandcognition.Wewillexplainmainontologicalpositionsaboutmind.Theyaredualism,materialism(physicalism),logicalbehaviorism,thebrainstatetypeidentitytheiry,functionalism,eliminativism,andinstrumentalism.Wewillintroducethemalongboththehistoricaldimensionandthedialecticaldimensionconcerningdifficultieseachtheoryencountersandsolutionsitoffers.Therearemanyproblems,issuesandtopicsinthisarea.Amongthem,themind-bodyproblemprobablyisthemostwellknownbothinsidethephilosophycommunityandoutsidethecommunity.Withthemind-bodyproblemfurtherproblemsarise,inparticular,thetwofeaturesofmind,intentionalityandsubjectivity,arethemostimportant.Contemporaryphilosophersintroducethetheoryofcomputationintothisareaandestablishtheso-called"machinefunctionalism"forourunderstandingofthemind.Machinefunctionalismbecomesthemainstreamandprovidestheoreticalfoundationsforartificialintelligence.Philosophicalresearchesonmindandcognitionalsointegratepsychology,linguistics,andotherfieldstoformthenowwellknowncognitivescience.Thiscoursewillintroducethisimportantdevelopment.Coreconceptsanddifficultieswillbeexplained.Theyincludementalrepresentation,mentalcontent,philosophicalproblemsofAI,qualia,consciousnessandsubjectivity.Wewillalsoconsidertheintegrationofphilosophicalandscientificstudiesonthenatureofmind.系主任簽章：院長簽章：年月日年月日
