PAGE\*MERGEFORMAT2CallforPapers[SpecialTopic]TheDepartmentoftheArmySocialWorkServiceManagementInformationSystem(FamilyAdvocacy)ThespecialtopiccallsforpapersonTheDepartmentoftheArmySocialWorkServiceManagementInformationSystem(FamilyAdvocacy)andsuchpaperswillappearinthejournalStudiesinSociologyofScienceasaspecialcolumn.Affiliatedresearcharea:MedicalCare,SocialCooperationtowardstheHighQualityofMedicalTreatment,BetterSocialWorkServiceSystemDescriptionTheSocialWorkServiceManagementInformationSystem(SWSMIS)isanautomatedclinicalcaserecordandcasemanagementsystemfortheDepartmentoftheArmyandtheUnitedStatesArmyMedicalCommand(MEDCOM)FamilyAdvocacyProgram(FAP).DevelopmentisongoingattheEuropeanMedicalCommand(ERMC)andwillmovetoCONUSinAugust1998.ThefinalversionofthedatabaseisscheduledfordeliveryinMarch1999withfulldeploymentscheduledforthelatespring/earlysummerof1999.On26Aug,SWSMISwillbepresentedtotheAirForceandNavyforconsiderationbytheseServicesandifaccepted,SWSMISwillbecomeaTri-Servicedatabase.SWSMISwillincreaseefficiency,minimizerework,andimprovethequalityofpatientcareintheFamilyAdvocacy,SocialWorkService,andMedicalSocialWorkprograms.ItwillresideatSocialWorkServicewithintheMTFs.CriticalpathsforreportingandnotificationexisttoallowclinicalproviderstofocusonpatientcarewhilemeetinghighlyregulatedstandardsforreportinganddocumentingthatisinherenttotheFamilyAdvocacyandsocialworkbusinessenvironment.SWSMISwillalsoreducevariationinpatientcare,maximizetheuseofresourcesinservicedelivery,measuretheeffectivenessoftreatmentagainstpatientoutcomes,increasethedefensibilityofclinicalandcasemanagementmethods,challengeanecdotalmethodsfordeterminingstandardsofcare,andoffersoliddataonclinicalprofilesandbestpracticemethods.Itrunsonproviderworkstationslinkedtoaninformativedatabaseonaclinic-wideNT4.0ServerinaWindows95environment,andmeetsC2securityaccreditationrequirements.RequirementsInadditiontotheReviewandOriginalArticlesbyinvitedspeakers,weareinvitingyoutosubmitarelevantresearchpaperon“T
