从文化专有项视角论中国古诗词中文化意象的英译的中期报告Thisisamid-termreportonthetranslationofculturalimagesinChineseancientpoetryfromtheperspectiveofculturalpropernouns.Firstly,weidentifiedandanalyzedtheculturalpropernounsinselectedancientChinesepoems,suchasnamesofplaces,historicalfigures,mythsandlegends,andliteraryworks.Wefoundthatthesepropernounscarryrichculturalconnotationsandprovideinsightsintothehistoricalandculturalbackgroundofthepoems.Secondly,weexploredthechallengesintranslatingtheseculturalpropernounsintoEnglishwhilepreservingtheirculturalmeanings.Literaltranslationmaynotconveytheintendedculturalnuances,andculturalreferencesmaynotbeaccessibletonon-Chinesereaders.Therefore,weneedtoadopttranslationstrategiessuchasexplanation,adaptation,andsubstitutiontomaketheculturalimagerymoreunderstandableandrelevanttoforeignreaders.Finally,wetestedourtranslationstrategiesbypresentingsampletranslationsofselectedpoemswithculturalpropernouns.WesoughtfeedbackfromChineseandnon-Chinesereaderstoevaluatetheeffectivenessofourtranslationsinconveyingtheculturalimageryoftheoriginalpoems.OurpreliminaryfindingssuggestthatthetranslationofculturalpropernounsinChineseancientpoetryrequiresadeepunderstandingoftheculturalandliterarybackgroundofthepoems,aswellastheculturalcontextofthetargetreaders.Italsorequirescreativityandflexibilityinadjustingthetranslationstomakethemmoreculturallyaccessibleandmeaningfultoforeignreaders.WewillcontinueourresearchandrefineourtranslationstrategiestoachieveamoreaccurateandculturallyfaithfultranslationofChineseancientpoetry.
