中国古典诗歌英译的意象再现研究的中期报告IntroductionChineseclassicalpoetryisanimportantculturalheritageofChina,whichhasbeenwidelystudiedandadmiredbyscholarsintheworld.Ithasrichlydiversethemesandtechniques,andthroughit,theChinesepeoplehaveexpressedtheirdeepestthoughtsandemotions.However,thetranslationofclassicalChinesepoetryintoEnglishorotherlanguagesfaceschallengesinconveyingtheoriginalmeaningandtheaestheticvalueofthepoetry,especiallytheimageryandsymbolsthataredeeplyrootedinChineseculture.ThisresearchaimstostudythemethodsandchallengesoftranslatingChineseclassicalpoetryandhowtheimageryofthepoetrycanbere-presentedinEnglish.ResearchQuestions1.WhatchallengesdotranslatorsfacewhentranslatingChineseclassicalpoetryintoEnglish,especiallyinconveyingtheimageryandsymbols?2.WhatarethemethodsandstrategiesthatcanbeusedtoeffectivelytranslatetheimageryandsymbolsinChineseclassicalpoetry?3.HowcantheimageryofChineseclassicalpoetrybeeffectivelyre-presentedinEnglish?LiteratureReviewTherearetwomaintypesofchallengesfacedbytranslatorswhentranslatingChineseclassicalpoetryintoEnglish:linguisticandcultural.Thelinguisticchallengearisesfromthedifferencesinthegrammaticalstructures,syntax,andvocabularyofChineseandEnglish.TheculturalchallengearisesfromthedifferencesintheculturalbackgroundandtheimageryandsymbolsthatareuniquetoChineseculture.Severaltranslationstrategieshavebeenproposedtodealwiththesechallenges.Sometranslatorsfocusonpreservingtheoriginalformandstructureofthepoemandaimforaliteraltranslationthatmaintainsthemeaningandtheimageryasmuchaspossible.Othertranslatorstakeamorecreativeapproach,adaptingthepoemtofitthetargetlanguageandcultureandusingfreeverseorothertechniquestoconveythemeaningandtheimagery.ResearchMethodologyTheresearchmethodologyinvolvesareviewofliteratureonthetranslationofChineseclassicalpoetry,ananalysisofselectedpoemsandtheirtranslations,andinterviewswithexperiencedtranslatorsofChineseclassicalpoetry.Theselectedpoemswillbechosenbasedontheirculturalsignificance,imagery,andthetranslationa
