WenvowsswifteconomicreformsInmainlandChina,PremierWenJiabaohasvowedtoisspeedingupthemainland'seconomicrestructurestepsthroughraisinghouseholdearningsandbreakingupmonopolies.Consumptionneedtobedrivenbydifferentmeasurestokeepsustainablegrowthintheeconomy.OnthemainlandHYPERLINK"app:ds:Wen"\t""WenHYPERLINK"app:ds:Jiabao"\t""Jiabaopointedoutsixareasfordeepeningreform,includingtaxation,thefinancialsystem,incomedistribution,andthegovernment'sroleintheeconomy.Hetalkedabouttheinstitutionalandincomebarriersthegovernmentmustovercometobuildamorebalancedeconomy,andpromisedthatwealthgapneedtobenarrowedinthecomingyears.Wendescribedthemainland'sincomedistributionproblemsasbeingveryseriousandsaidBeijingwouldpromptlyformulateaplantoreformthesystem.WensaidBeijingwouldraisetaxesforhigh-incomeearnersandstrictlyregulatethepayandbonusesofseniormanagersofstate-ownedfirmsandfinancialinstitutions.Thegovernmentwouldpushtoexpandthemiddleclassandraisethesalariesoflow-incomeworkers,Wenadded.Thepremierpledgedtohelpstrugglingsmallandmedium-sizedfirms,manyofthemexport-orientedmanufacturers,whohavebeenbadlyhitbydecliningdemandduetothesluggisheconomicrecoveryintheUnitedStates,theeurozone'ssovereigndebtcrisis,asteepriseinproductioncostsanddifficultiesinsecuringfinancing.SMEscanfindmorebusinessopportunitiesonE-businessplatforms,suchasB2Bplatformswhichaimtodevelopforeigntradebusiness.IBUonlineisB2Bportal,whichhasintegratedservicesinforeigntradebusiness;pleasegotothehomepagetoknowmoredetails.UncertaineconomicconditionsmakeSMEspressurizedConsumerconfidenceandbusinessconfidencehavebothfallendramaticallyinHongKongamidworriesofadeterioratingjobmarketandgloomyglobaleconomicoutlook.HongKongconsumerconfidencehasdeclinedto99pointsforthelastquarterof2011from107atthestartoflastyear,retreatingtothesamelevelinthefourthquarterof2010.Businessconfidenceamongsmallandmediumenterprises(SMEs)inHongKongdropped12indexpointsyear-on-yearto96pointsinthelastquarter,whilecorporatesregistered
