图式理论在大学英语词汇教学中的实证研究的中期报告IntroductionVocabularyacquisitionhasalwaysbeenoneoftheessentialelementsinlanguagelearning,andeffectivevocabularyteachingiscrucialforlanguagelearnerstoimprovetheiroveralllanguageproficiency.Therefore,variousmethodsandapproacheshavebeenproposedtoteachvocabulary,amongwhichtheschematheoryhasattractedsignificantattentionandhasbeenincreasinglyappliedinthefieldoflanguageteaching.Schematheoryarguesthatknowledgeisstoredintheformoforganizedmentalconstructscalledschemas.Theseschemasrepresentaperson'spriorknowledgeandexperienceinaparticulardomain,andtheyserveasaframeworkforinterpretingandunderstandingnewinformation.Accordingtotheschematheory,wordsarebestlearnedwhenlearnersareabletomakeconnectionsbetweennewwordsandtheirexistingschemas.ThisstudyaimstoinvestigatetheeffectivenessofschematheoryinteachingEnglishvocabularytoChineseuniversitystudents.Theresearchwilladoptaquasi-experimentaldesign,wheretwogroupsofstudentswillreceivedifferenttreatments:theexperimentalgroupwillbetaughtusingtheschematheoryapproach,whilethecontrolgroupwillbetaughtusingthetraditionalapproach.Thestudyhypothesizesthattheschematheoryapproachwillbemoreeffectivethanthetraditionalapproachinenhancingstudents'vocabularyacquisition.MethodologyParticipantsParticipantsinthisstudywillbe60studentsfromaChineseuniversity,allofwhomaretakinganintermediate-levelEnglishcourse.Theywillberandomlyassignedtoeitheranexperimentalgrouporacontrolgroup,with30participantsineachgroup.MaterialsTheexperimentalgroupwillbeprovidedwithmaterialsdesignedaccordingtotheprinciplesofschematheory,whilethecontrolgroupwillbeprovidedwithtraditionalvocabularyteachingmaterials.Theteachingmaterialswillcover20Englishwordscommonlyusedinvariouscontextsandwillincludeactivitiessuchaswordassociation,contextsentences,andusageexamples.ProcedureThestudywillbeconductedoveraperiodoffourweeks,withtwo50-minuteteachingsessionsperweek.Beforethestudy,allparticipantswilltakeavocabularyproficiencytesttoensurethattheirlevelsarebalancedbetwe
