不同年级非英语专业大学生英语学习动机和学习策略研究的中期报告AbstractThispaperisamid-termreportontheresearchofthemotivationandstrategiesforlearningEnglishamongnon-Englishmajorsindifferentgradesofuniversity.Thestudyaimstoinvestigatethereasonsforstudents'Englishlearning,andtoexplorethedifferentstrategiesadoptedbystudentsindifferentgradestoimprovetheirEnglishskills.Theresearchusedaquestionnairesurveyandinterviewstocollectdatafrom120non-EnglishmajorstudentsinthreegradesfromauniversityinChina.Theresultsshowedthatthemainmotivationforstudents'Englishlearningwastoimprovetheirfuturejobprospects.Thestudyalsofoundthatstudentsindifferentgradeshaddifferentlearningstrategies.Freshmentendedtorelyonteachersandtextbooks,whilesophomoresbegantousemorediverselearningresourcessuchasEnglish-languagefilmsandTVshows.JuniorstendedtohaveamorecriticalattitudetowardstheirownlearningandfocusedonimprovingtheirEnglishskillsthroughpracticeandcommunication.ThepaperconcludeswithimplicationsforteachingEnglishtonon-Englishmajorstudentsinhighereducation.IntroductionEnglishiswidelyrecognizedasagloballinguafrancaandisincreasinglyimportantforpeopletobesuccessfulinarangeofacademicandprofessionalcontexts.InChina,theimportanceofEnglishhasbeenemphasizedinhighereducationformanyyears.Inmanymajors,studentsarerequiredtopassEnglishcoursesorobtaincertainlevelsofEnglishproficiencyinordertograduate.However,despitetheimportanceofEnglish,theachievementofChinesestudentsinEnglishlearningremainscontroversial.MuchefforthasbeenputintoimprovingEnglishteachinginhighereducationinChina,buttheeffectivenessoftheseeffortsisstillunderdiscussion.AccordingtothestudyofRyanandDeci(2000)ontheself-determinationtheoryofmotivation,students'motivationiscloselyrelatedtotheirlearningoutcomes.Basedonthistheory,thisstudyaimstoexplorethemotivationandstrategiesforlearningEnglishamongnon-Englishmajorsindifferentgradesofuniversity.Specifically,weaimtoanswerthefollowingresearchquestions:-Whatarethemainmotivationsfornon-EnglishmajorstudentstolearnEnglish?-Whatarethedifferen
