《水浒传》的粗俗语英译研究的综述报告Introduction《水浒传》(TheWaterMargin)isoneoftheFourGreatClassicalNovelsofChineseliterature.ItisataleofagroupofoutlawsinSongDynasty,whowereforcedtoliveonMountLiangshanduetovariousinjusticestheysuffered.Onecharacteristicofthenovelistheuseofcrudeandvulgarlanguage,whichismeanttoreflecttheroughandunpolishednatureoftheoutlaws.Theuseofsuchlanguagealsoenhancestherealismandauthenticityofthenovel.Inthisreport,Iwillprovideanoverviewofresearchonthetranslationofvulgarlanguagein《水浒传》intoEnglish.ApproachestoTranslationofVulgarLanguageTherearedifferentmethodsoftranslatingvulgarlanguage,anddifferenttranslatorsadoptdifferentstrategiesdependingontheintendedaudienceandculturalsensitivities.Oneapproachistoavoidtranslatingthevulgarlanguagealtogether,anduseeuphemismsormorepoliteexpressions.Thisstrategyisoftenemployedwhentranslatingaworkforageneralreadership,suchasinthecaseofChildren'seditionsof《水浒传》.Anotherapproachistotranslatethevulgarlanguageliterally,withoutdilutingit.Thisstrategypreservestheoriginaltextascloselyaspossible,buthasthedisadvantageofalienatingreaderswhoarenotfamiliarwiththecultureandcontext.Literaltranslationisoftenusedbyscholarsandresearcherswhoareinterestedinthehistoricalandculturalsignificanceofthetext.Athirdapproachistotranslatethevulgarlanguagecreatively,incorporatingelementsofthetargetlanguageandculture.Thisstrategyaimstoconveythemeaningandtoneoftheoriginaltextwhilemakingitmoreaccessibleandenjoyableforreaders.Thisapproachisoftenusedbytranslatorswhoaimtoproduceapopularandreadableversionofthetext.StudiesonTranslationofVulgarLanguagein《水浒传》Severalstudieshavefocusedonthetranslationofvulgarlanguagein《水浒传》.Mostofthesestudiesarebasedonthecomparisonofmultipletranslationsofthesametext,andanalyzethestrategiesandtechniquesusedbytranslators.Below,Isummarizesomeofthesestudiesandtheirmainfindings.OnestudybyZhaoXiaofeng(2009)analyzedthetranslationofabusivelanguagein《水浒传》intoEnglishandKorean.Thestudyaimedtoidentifythedifferentstrategiesusedbytranslatorstoconve
