图形-背景理论视野下的汉语爱国抒情诗词英译研究的综述报告BackgroundTheoryofGraphicBackgroundandaReviewofStudiesonEnglishTranslationofChinesePatrioticandSentimentalPoetry:AComprehensiveReportofNotLessthan1200WordsIntroductionChinesepatrioticandsentimentalpoetryisauniquegenreofpoetrythatischaracterizedbyitsChineselanguage,culture,history,andtradition.Thesepoemsexpressthelove,affection,andemotionsofChinesepeopletowardstheircountry,society,andculture.EnglishtranslationofChinesepatrioticandsentimentalpoetryposesagreatchallengeduetothedifferenceinlanguageandculture.ScholarshaveappliedvarioustheoriesandmethodstoovercomethischallengeandproduceaccurateandeffectiveEnglishtranslationsofChinesepatrioticandsentimentalpoetry.Thisreportprovidesacomprehensivereviewofthesestudiesfromtheperspectiveofgraphicbackgroundtheory.GraphicBackgroundTheoryGraphicbackgroundtheory,anapproachdevelopedbyEugeneA.Nida,emphasizestheimportanceofbackgroundknowledgeandcontextintheprocessoftranslatinglinguisticexpressions.Accordingtothistheory,languageisasystemofsignsthatcanonlybeunderstoodinrelationtoitssurroundingcontext.Therefore,thetranslatorshouldnotonlytranslatethewords,butalsotransferthemeaningandthebackgroundinformationassociatedwiththem.Thistheoryisparticularlyapplicabletothetranslationofpoeticexpressions,aspoemsareoftenembeddedincomplexculturalandhistoricalcontexts.StudiesonEnglishTranslationofChinesePatrioticandSentimentalPoetryNumerousstudieshavebeenconductedontheEnglishtranslationofChinesepatrioticandsentimentalpoetry,applyingdifferentmethodsandtheories.Thesestudiescanbegroupedintotwomajorcategories:traditionalChineseliterarytranslationandcontemporarytranslationstrategies.TraditionalChineseLiteraryTranslationTraditionalChineseliterarytranslationischaracterizedbyitsfocusonpreservingtheoriginalformandstructureofChinesepoems,whileconveyingtheirmeaningandemotionsthroughEnglishlanguageandculture.ThisapproachisbasedonthebeliefthatthebeautyandartisticvalueofChinesepoetryliesinitsform,sound,andimagery.Therefore,thetran
